In June 2003, Brad Banks and Wesley Chow founded Athena Capital Research. The two worked together previously for three years at another highly successful hedge fund, where they gained significant experience with the financial markets and automated trading.

Trading began on a test scale in late 2003 and was ramped up to significant levels by early 2004. Evan Wies, an experienced software engineer and seasoned team leader, joined and became our third partner, further solidifying the firm’s commitment to technology and teamwork.

On March 1, 2007, we launched our flagship fund, the Athena Nike Fund, setting up the next phase in our growth.

Today, Athena boasts nine team members, each with diverse international and technological backgrounds. As we work to maintain our edge in the markets, we keep an optimistic eye to the future, looking to expand our team to better capitalize on exciting and novel market opportunities, and to preserve the founding values that have been the source of our success.
